DNA First Review: Atharvaa And Nimisha Sajayan's Film Draws Early Buzz After Premiere

DNA First Review: The Tamil film DNA, an action thriller directed by Nelson Venkatesan, held its premiere screening on June 18, 2025, ahead of its theatrical release on June 20. The film marks a collaboration between Olympia Movies and director Nelson Venkatesan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Athisha Vino.

DNA features Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles, marking their first on-screen pairing. The supporting cast includes Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Thilak, Viji Chandrasekar, Chetan, Riythvika KP, Subramanian Siva, Karunakaran, and Pasanga Sivakumar.

Following the premiere, several film industry professionals took to social media to share their initial impressions. Producer G. Dhananjeyan, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), referred to DNA as an "emotional thriller with a very good social theme" and acknowledged the contributions of the cast and crew. While not a full-fledged review, the post noted the performances of Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan and highlighted the background music by Ghibran Vaibodha.

Nelson Venkatesan's Fourth Film Gears Up for June 20 Release

This is Nelson Venkatesan's fourth directorial venture, following Oru Naal Koothu (2016), Monster (2019), and Farhana (2023). With DNA, the director returns to a genre that combines emotional undertones with thriller elements. The film is said to explore socially relevant subject matter through its narrative structure, though full details remain under wraps ahead of the theatrical release.

On the technical front, the film includes music by Sreekanth Hariharan, Sathya Prakash, Anal Akash, Praveen Saivi, and Sahi Siva. The cinematography is handled by Parthiban D.F.T, with editing by Sabu Joseph VJ. Don Ashok managed the stunt choreography, while Dinesh took charge of the dance sequences. Other crew members include art director Siva Shankar, costume designer Navadevi Rajkumar, sound designer Pratap, and VFX team Hocuspocus. Colour grading was done by Infinity Studios.

DNA is produced by Jayanthi Ambedkar, with R. Bala Kumar serving as executive producer and Sanjay Shanmugam and Bharath Raj as co-producers. The music rights are held by Think Music.

With anticipation building following its premiere, DNA is now set for public release across theaters in Tamil Nadu and beyond on June 20.
