Empuraan Tamil Nadu Advance Bookings: Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial, Mohanlal-starrer Empuraan, Lucifer 2, is now the biggest phenomenon at the box office in India. The movie's pre-sales are touching a new high with each passing minute and the political action thriller is setting a new benchmark in advance sales. The worldwide advance sales already touched about Rs 60 Crore for its opening day and the hype around Empuraan is unimaginable. Empuraan opened to stellar hype on March 27 and is getting positive reviews from fans and mixed reactions from critics and movie buffs.

To keep up with the soaring expectations, Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran have been touring several cities across the country to promote the movie, which is coming as a pan-India release in multiple languages, unlike the first instalment. Lucifer is a three-instalment film which was earlier planned to be produced as a web series. Writer Murali Gopy developed Lucifer 2 into a bigger canvas given the immense applause Lucifer garnered after its theatrical release.

The production of Empuraan was mounted on a large scale owing to the success of Lucifer. Prithviraj Sukumaran had to say no to several films in the last two years for directing Empuraan. The team travelled to Faridabad, Shimla, Leh, UK, the US, Chennai, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kerala, and the UAE to film several sequences in the film starring the veteran. There will be another instalment to the Lucifer series after Empuraan, which was originally conceived as a web series.The producers spent Rs 180 Crore on the making of L2E, which marks the Mollywood debut of Subaskaran Allirajah's Lyca Productions banner.

Prithviraj Sukumaran & Mohanlal Opt For Profit Sharing

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal have not taken any remuneration for the movie and every penny was spent on the filmmaking, said Sukumaran, who also mentioned that he is paying EMIs for his Lamborghini car. The duo will take profit share as compensation.

As the movie bet LEO at the Kerala box office in pre-sales by establishing a new record, the Tamil Nadu advance bookings for the Tamil version of Empuraan are equally encouraging. So far, the movie's pre-sales amassed over Rs 1 Crore for its opening day through the ticket booking apps. Check out the tweet below.

Speaking at one of the promotional events, Mohanlal, who spoke about Empuraan said that the Tollywood remake starring Chiranjeevi titled 'GodFather' cannot make a sequel because of the absence of a few key characters. He said, "I watched Godfather, but they changed the story a little bit. A lot of my films were remade in other languages. But I don't think the Godfather team can make a second part because a couple of characters were not there in the first part compared to Lucifer."
