Good Bad Ugly Star Ajith Kumar Set To Receive Padma Bhushan Today, Heads To Delhi For Prestigious Ceremony

Ajith Kumar is set to receive the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 28, 2025. The actor, along with his wife Shalini and their children, has already arrived in Delhi for the ceremony. This recognition comes after he was awarded the honour in January 2025.

Ajith Kumar's week is filled with celebrations. He will be honoured with the Padma Bhushan on Monday and will celebrate his birthday shortly after, on May 1. The actor expressed gratitude for this prestigious award through a heartfelt note shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Ajith Kumar's Heartfelt Gratitude

In his message, Ajith wrote, "I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu and the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for this prestigious honour. It is a privilege to be recognized at such a level and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgement of my contributions to our nation."

The actor acknowledged that this recognition is not solely personal but reflects collective efforts. He thanked members of the film industry, including seniors and peers, for their inspiration and support throughout his journey.

Support From Various Communities

Ajith also expressed appreciation for support from the motor racing fraternity and sports shooting community. He mentioned organisations like Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), National Rifle Association of India, and Chennai Rifle Club.

The actor recently achieved second place at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Ajith Kumar has also won races in Dubai, Italy, Portugal, and Belgium as part of the 24H Racing Series.

Acknowledging Family Support

Ajith had a special message for his family: "To my family and friends: Your love and support have been both a refuge and a source of strength. Thank you! I wish my late father had lived to see this day. Yet, I like to think he would be proud that his spirit and legacy live on in all that I do. I want to thank my mother for her unconditional love and the sacrifices that enabled me to become all that I could be."

This year saw 139 individuals recognised across various fields with Padma awards: seven received Padma Vibhushan, 19 were awarded Padma Bhushan, while 113 were honoured with Padma Shri.
