Jailer 2 Filming Begins: After the thumping response to the announcement video of Jailer 2, which featured Nelson and Anirudh Ravichander, with the entry of superstar Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, the excitement around Jailer movie's sequel grew to new heights as the team led by Sun Pictures begins the shooting schedule today (March 10).

Nelson's directorial Jailer was released in the year 2023 amid mixed reactions and not a superstar's film-like hype. Once the movie hit the screens, fans and movie buffs were spellbound by Nelson's amazing characterization and depiction of veteran Rajinikanth in the titular role. With a solid narrative, gripping screenplay, intriguing characterizations, special cameos and thumping music, Jailer became a phenomenon at the box office, becoming Kollywood's second highest-grosser and a one-of-a-kind industry hit to date. Made on a budget of about Rs 220 Crore by Kalanithi Maran of the Sun Pictures banner, the movie made a whopping Rs 650 Crore. Jailer 2 is likely eyeing a theatrical release around the summer of 2026.

Jailer Synopsis

Muthuvel Pandian lives peacefully with his family consisting of his wife, his son, and his son's wife along with a grandson. His son, ACP Arjun is a dedicated officer and one day Muthuvel Pandian gets a call informing him of his son's death. The body is nowhere to be found. As a former Jailer, Muthuvel Pandian unleashes his rage on the accused by moving some connections.

Nelson, driven by the encouragement and success of Jailer, started working on the sequel titled Jailer 2, immediately. After spending a good time in pre-production, the Jailer 2 announcement video was dropped, amplifying the buzz. In addition, the news about the shooting schedule of filming made the fans thrilled.
