The much-anticipated political action thriller Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, is being widely discussed as Vijay's final film before making a full-fledged entry into politics. With Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol also playing lead roles, the film is set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026. The cast includes notable names like Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Shruti Haasan, Narain, and rising star Mamitha Baiju.

On Vijay's birthday, the film's makers released a teaser titled The First Roar, offering fans a glimpse of the actor in a police avatar. In a dramatic sequence, Vijay's character walks through a burning town, wielding a samurai sword, as the tagline reads, "A true leader rises not for power, but for people." The teaser ends with a stylized graphic that reads 'Happy Birthday Thalapathy Vijay,' followed by the film's title: Jana Nayagan.

But the bigger question looming over fans' minds is-will this truly be his last film?

Will Jana Nayagan Mark the End of Vijay's Acting Career?

Actress Mamitha Baiju, who also turned 24 today, addressed this question during a recent public interaction. Speaking to anchor Mithun Ramesh, she shared that she had directly asked Vijay if Jana Nayagan would be his final screen appearance. According to her, Vijay replied that his decision would depend on the outcome of the elections. "He said he's not sure-it depends on the results," Mamitha revealed, adding that the final day of the shoot was emotional for the entire crew, including Vijay, who reportedly avoided taking photos as he became overwhelmed.

Vijay had earlier announced his political plans in February 2024, stating that he would step into public service after completing The Greatest of All Time and what was then referred to as Thalapathy 69.

Though Jana Nayagan is being promoted as Vijay's final film, Mamitha's remarks hint that the door to acting might not be completely closed.
