Kaantha Box Office Collection Day 1 Early Update: Superstar Dulquer Salmaan is back in a period drama. DQ's latest outing, Kaantha, has finally hit cinemas today (November 14, 2025) across the nation amid strong buzz. Written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha - starring Dulquer Salmaan, Bhagyashri Borse and Rana Daggubati among others in prominent roles - is said to be based on the life of M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, widely known as the first-ever superstar of Tamil cinema in the 1930s.
Ever since the announcement, the movie has generated a lot of buzz, making it one of the highly-anticipated releases of the year. With the positive reviews pouring in from fans and critics alike, let's take a look at how the movie is actually performing at the box office on its opening day.
Kaantha Budget, OTT Release Platform
Featuring Dulquer Salmaan as 'T. K. Mahadevan', Kaantha has been at the receiving end of rave reviews from everyone. The 'Mahanati' actor's power-packed performance has left the audience impressed.
According to India Times, the bilingual film, released in both Telugu and Tamil languages, has been allegedly mounted on an estimated budget of somewhere between Rs 35-40 cr. As reported by OTTPlay, Kaantha - jointly produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan under their Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films banners, respectively - has signed Netflix as its official digital streaming partner. That means Kaantha will have its OTT premiere on Netflix after concluding its theatrical run. However, an official announcement on the same is still awaited.
Kaantha First Day Collection Early Trend (Opening Day)
Dulquer Salmaan-led Kaantha has opened to positive word of mouth across both the Tamil and Telugu belts. However, despite the positive hype, the film has kickstarted its theatrical journey on a lukewarm note. According to the real-time Sacnilk data, the film has netted around ₹1.3 cr today till 4:30 PM.
The movie is likely to pick up an upward trend later in the evening and night shows.

Kaantha Vs Lokah Chapter 1 Box Office Opening
Dulquer Salmaan, fresh from the blockbuster success of his latest (before Kaantha) production venture Lokah Chapter 1, has also co-produced his new movie Kaantha. Lokah had a box office opening of Rs 2.7 cr on the day of its release and went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam cinema ever.
Meanwhile, Kaantha is just a couple of lakhs away from touching 50% of Lokah's opening day figures as of now.
