Kaantha OTT Release: The Tamil period drama Kaantha, led by Dulquer Salmaan, arrived in cinemas worldwide on November 14, 2025. The film, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, marks a collaboration between Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films, with Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan jointly producing the project. While early discussions had suggested that the film drew inspiration from the life of M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, the makers clarified ahead of release that the narrative is entirely fictional.

Set in 1950s Madras, Kaantha explores the evolving dynamics between Ayya, a prominent film director, and T. K. Mahadevan, an actor whose success he helped shape. Their professional relationship becomes strained when Mahadevan interferes in Ayya's film to better align it with his star persona, shifting the project's direction and tone. The friction that develops between them forms the core conflict of the story.

OTT Streaming Details of Kaantha

The streaming rights for Kaantha have been secured by Netflix. The film will eventually be available in five languages, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, after completing its theatrical run. While reports have indicated that the digital release may follow roughly four weeks after the film's cinema debut, placing the streaming window around mid-December, there has been no official confirmation from the makers or the streaming platform. Viewers are advised to wait for a formal announcement regarding the exact premiere date. Since the film is currently running in theaters, audiences can experience it on the big screen.
