Lal Salaam OTT Release: After its theatrical release in February this year, Lal Salaam, the Tamil-language sports action drama, is now headed to the digital space. The film is set to premiere on Sun NXT starting June 6, 2025, coinciding with the occasion of Bakrid. This move allows audiences who missed the theatrical run to catch the film online from the comfort of their homes.

Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, Lal Salaam brings together Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. The film also features a cameo appearance by Rajinikanth, who plays an extended special role. The supporting cast includes Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Vignesh, Livingston, and K. S. Ravikumar among others.

Lal Salaam: Exploring Sports and Social Themes

The story is set in the fictional village of Murarbad, where communal harmony is challenged by political interests. Two childhood friends, Thiru and Shamsuddin-both skilled cricket players-become the focus of rising tensions. As local elections draw near, their long-standing rivalry is manipulated for political ends, sparking unrest within the village. Through the course of the narrative, the film examines themes of identity, unity, and the social impact of sport, against a backdrop of religious and caste divisions.

Lal Salaam was officially announced in November 2022, and filming began in March 2023. The production took place across locations such as Chennai, Mumbai, and Pondicherry, wrapping up by August 2023.

The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions, with G.K.M. Tamilkumaran serving as the head of the production house. The technical team includes A. R. Rahman as the music composer, Vishnu Rangasamy handling cinematography, and B. Pravin Baaskar in charge of editing. Other key contributors include Ramu Thangaraj (art direction), Dinesh (choreography), and Anl Arasu, Kickass Kaali, and Stunt Vicky (stunt coordination).

The upcoming OTT release of Lal Salaam is set to make the film accessible to a broader audience and aligns with the ongoing trend in Tamil cinema of blending sports and action with socio-political themes.
