Maareesan Box Office Collection Day 3: Fahadh Faasil And Vadivelu's Film Sees Modest Growth Over Weekend

Maareesan Day 3 Box Office Modest Weekend Rise

Maareesan Box Office Collection: Maareesan, the Tamil adventure drama thriller starring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, has completed its first weekend in theaters with a total India net box office collection of approximately ₹3.51 crore, according to estimates from box office tracker Sacnilk.

Directed by Sudheesh Sankar and written by V. Krishna Moorthy, Maareesan was released in cinemas on July 25, 2025. The film marks the 98th production venture of Super Good Films, helmed by R. B. Choudary. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music, while Kalaiselvan Sivaji and Sreejith Sarang handled cinematography and editing, respectively.

The film opened on Friday with a modest ₹0.75 crore, which then climbed to ₹1.37 crore on Saturday, showing an 82.67% jump, a common trend for films that start slow but gain momentum through the weekend. Sunday's collection saw a slight increase to ₹1.39 crore, taking the three-day total to ₹3.51 crore. These figures suggest a steady, though not dramatic, upward trend in audience footfall over the extended opening weekend.

Maareesan: Story, Cast Details, Production Timeline

Maareesan tells the story of an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer's who escapes from his home, accompanied by a thief. While the thief appears to help him travel, his actual motive is tied to the elderly man's bank fortune. The narrative blends elements of emotional drama and tension, anchored by an unlikely partnership.

The film brings together a mix of established and supporting actors, including Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, P. L. Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja. Vadivelu and Kovai Sarala reunite in this film after last sharing the screen in the 2017 film Mersal.

Production on Maareesan began in January 2024, following early speculation about a collaboration between Vadivelu and Fahadh after the success of Maamannan (2023). Filming proceeded in phases through 2024, including schedules in Chennai.

While the film's weekend performance has been modest, the coming weekdays will be crucial in determining its sustainability at the box office. With competition from other new releases and varying regional audience preferences, its hold over the coming days will dictate whether it can build on its early earnings or taper off.
