The film marks a collaboration between veteran actor Vadivelu and acclaimed actor Fahadh Faasil, under the direction of Sudheesh Sankar.

July 25, 2025, has been announced as the theatrical release date for Maareesan. Produced by R. B. Choudary under the banner of Super Good Films, this film is the production house's 98th venture. It is expected to be a blend of comedy and drama, with a large ensemble cast that includes Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, P. L. Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Telephone Raja, Krishna, Haritha, and others.

Maareesan Gears Up For Trailer Release

The screenplay, story, and dialogues for Maareesan have been written by V. Krishna Moorthy, who also serves as the creative director of the project. The technical crew features several notable names from the industry. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with Kalaiselvan Sivaji handling cinematography and Sreejith Sarang in charge of editing. The film's production design is by Banglan, with sound design by Sync Cinema and VFX work handled by Lavan & Kushan of Digital Turbo Media.

The teaser, which was released on June 4, showed glimpses of Vadivelu and Faasil embarking on a road journey across varied landscapes, set to the classic song "Aaha Inba Nilavinile" from Mayabazar (1957). This short glimpse hinted at a film that balances nostalgia and humor while placing its lead characters in unusual and dynamic settings.

Filming for Maareesan began in January 2024, with a brief pause midway to accommodate Fahadh Faasil's commitments to Pushpa 2: The Rule. Production resumed in October 2024 in Chennai and has since been completed, with the film now gearing up for its trailer launch on July 14 and theatrical release on July 25.

With the trailer set to drop tomorrow, focus now turns to how the film frames its two lead actors in what seems to be a unique narrative. As anticipation builds, the trailer's arrival will offer the first extended look into Maareesan and its tone. A wide theatrical rollout is anticipated.
