Maargan OTT Release: The Tamil crime thriller Maargan, headlined by Vijay Antony, is set to make its digital debut nearly a month after its theatrical release. Directed and edited by Leo John Paul in his directorial debut, the film opened in cinemas on June 27, 2025, and has now completed a 25-day theatrical run. According to industry reports, the film has turned out to be a profitable venture, earning over ₹10 crore in Tamil Nadu and being declared a clean hit for Vijay Antony.
For viewers who missed its theatrical run or wish to revisit the thriller, Maargan will begin streaming from July 25, 2025. The film is confirmed to release on Tentkotta for audiences outside India. Meanwhile, in India, Amazon Prime Video is reported to have secured the streaming rights, with streaming expected to begin on the same date, although an official confirmation from the platform is still awaited.
Maargan: Murder Mystery Crime Thriller Set for OTT Debut
Produced by Fatima Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner, Maargan brings together a large cast, including Ajay Dhishan, P. Samuthirakani, Brigida Saga, Deepshika Umapathy, and Vinodh Sagar. The film's music is composed by Vijay Antony himself, while cinematography is handled by Yuva S.
Maargan is a murder mystery crime thriller that explores the darker layers of a complex investigation. At the center is a senior police officer confronted with a case that grows increasingly intricate as each lead exposes new and unsettling truths. The investigation takes a more complicated turn with the entry of a mysterious figure whose presence adds to the tension and uncertainty surrounding the events.
Initially titled VAFC12, a reference to its position as the 12th production under Vijay Antony's banner, the film was later renamed Gagana Maargan before finally being released as Maargan. The change was announced just ahead of the theatrical release in May 2025.
The movie also features appearances by Mahanadi Shankar, Seshvitha Raju, Archana, Kumar Natarajan, Ramachandran Durairaj, Abhishek Vinod and others. It is backed by a strong technical crew, including editor-director Leo John Paul, art director A. Raja, and sound designer S. Vijay Rathinam.
Following the theatrical success and positive reception, its OTT rollout is expected to further boost viewership across both domestic and international markets. Viewers looking to watch Maargan can tune in from July 25, with availability on Tentkotta (outside India) and reportedly on Amazon Prime Video (within India).
