Madharaasi Worldwide Box Office Day 9: Sivakarthikeyan's Film Eyes Rs 100 Cr, But Fails To Earn 1/5 Of Coolie

Madharaasi Worldwide Box Office Day 9: A lot was said and written about Madharaasi before its release. While the film opened with decent numbers, it somehow struggled to capitalize in the first week. Despite a lack of pre-release buzz, the action thriller minted decent moolah in the cinema halls, garnering momentum on the weekends. However, somehow the film lost track once weekdays started.

Sivakarthikeyan's performances have often been appreciated by the audience and the critics. But can he deliver a blockbuster at the box office with Madharaasi? This is the question on everyone's minds.

WILL MADHARAASI EARN RS 100 CRORE WORLDWIDE?

The competition in the market intensified when Madharaasi released with films like The Bengal Files, Bad Girl, Ghaati, Gandhi Kannadi and Baaghi 4. Initial reports suggested that the film would earn Rs 18 crore on its first day at the box office. However, the numbers were on the lower side. While the box office figures are not bad, the film could definitely do better.

Madharaasi earned a little over Rs 13 crore on the opening day, marking the second-highest opening day for the lead actor Sivakarthikeyan after Amaran.

On its ninth day at the domestic box office, Madharaasi entered the Rs 50-crore club in Tamil Nadu. The movie has minted Rs 50 crore in the state, turning out to be Sivakarthikeyan's eighth film to achieve the feat.

While Rajinikanth shared words of praise for Sivakarthikeyan, the viewers have compared Coolie with Madharaasi. While Coolie released on August 14, Madharaasi hit the silver screens on September 5. Thalaiva's magic worked like a charm as his film had minted Rs 469 crore till the ninth day of release. Madharaasi could only earn 1/5th of Coolie's earnings at the worldwide box office.
