Kollywood Filmmaker SS Stanley Dies At 58: Veteran filmmaker SS Stanley breathed his last at the age of 58 in Chennai on April 15. The director was battling several medical issues and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai where he died. After the news spread about his passing away, several industry colleagues, and friends have started to pour in their condolences to the family.

Stanley is active in Kollywood, and his film career started in 2002. He made only four films and acted in 11 movies including Raavananan, Andavan Kattalai, etc. The movies he directed are 'April Maadhathil,' 'Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan' with Dhanush in 2004, 'Mercury Pookkal' in 2006, and 'Kizhakku Kadalkarai Salai' which was his last directorial released in 2006.

Out of four movies he made as a director, SS Stanley worked with actor Srikanth in three of them. Another film 'Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan' featured Dhanush. He was also active as an actor in Tamil films and started his acting debut with a 2007 film named 'Periyar.' He was last seen in 'Maharaja' starring Vijay Sethupathi which was released to a thumping response in 2024.

SS Stanley Biography & Filmography

Born in Munnar, Kerala on December 14, 1967, Stanley grew up mostly in Chennai and holds a graduation degree in Botany from Coimbatore Government Arts College. After deciding to work in films, Stanley approached popular filmmakers Mahendran and Sasi with whom he had worked as an assistant. He learned the craft for 12 years before making his directorial debut with 'April Maadhathil' a romantic story in 2002.

SS Stanley Funeral

The family members have confirmed that the funeral will take place on Tuesday evening at the electric crematorium located in Valasaravakkam, near to his house, in Chennai. Friends, Relatives, and the film fraternity are paying their last respects to the mortal remains of SS Stanley at his house.
