Prasanth Pandiyaraj On What To Expect From Soori's Maaman: ‘First Half Will Be Fun, Second Half Emotional’

Prasanth Pandiyaraj On Soori s Maaman Fun Then Emotional

Prasanth Pandiyaraj On Maaman: With just a day left for its theatrical release, the Tamil film Maaman has drawn attention not only for its cast but also for the anticipation surrounding its narrative. The film, scheduled to hit screens on May 16, 2025, is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, from a story written by lead actor Soori.

According to a recent tweet by film industry tracker Christopher Kanagaraj, the director shared a glimpse of what audiences can expect. "Maaman's first half will be fun, and the second half will be emotional. We didn't want to mislead viewers with a purely lighthearted trailer, so we chose to release one that reflects the film's emotional weight as well," the tweet quoted Prasanth Pandiyaraj saying.

Know More About Maaman Ahead of Release

The project sees Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead, supported by a cast that includes Rajkiran, Swasika, Bala Saravanan, and Baba Bhaskar. The film also features Viji Chandrasekhar, Nikhila Sankar, and Geetha Kailasam in key roles. Notably, this is Lark Studios' second consecutive collaboration with Soori, following their 2024 release, Garudan.

Maaman is positioned as an action drama that moves between light-hearted sequences and deeper emotional territory. Behind the scenes, Dinesh Purushothaman is handling cinematography while Ganesh Siva is in charge of editing. Music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, whose work is expected to enhance the emotional transitions the film undertakes. Other key crew members include art director G. Durai Raj, stunt coordinator Mahesh Mathew, and choreographer Baba Bhaskar.

Take a Poll

The post-theatrical digital streaming rights have been acquired by ZEE5, while satellite rights are with Zee Tamil and Zee Thirai, ensuring the film's reach beyond the box office.

As the release approaches, the team has chosen to promote the film as one that balances humor with emotional moments, rather than presenting it solely as a light-hearted entertainer. How this approach resonates with audiences will become clear after the film's theatrical debut tomorrow.
