Rajinikanth's Coolie Second Single 'Monica' Out Now: Pooja Hegde And Soubin Shahir Shine In Lyric Video

'Coolie' Second Single 'Monica' Released: The build-up to Coolie, the highly awaited action thriller starring Rajinikanth, has taken another step forward with the release of its second single, Monica. The lyric video, which dropped on July 11, features actress Pooja Hegde in a cameo appearance, performing in the titular track as Monica. The song's release has been timed strategically to maintain momentum ahead of the film's global theatrical release on August 14, 2025.

Coolie, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, stars Rajinikanth as the central character, Deva. The ensemble cast includes prominent names such as Nagarjuna (as Simon), Upendra (as Kaleesha), Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan will also be making a cameo appearance as a character named Dahaa.

Coolie Nears Release as Promotions Continue

The music for Coolie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with lyrics for Monica penned by Vishnu Edavan. The lyric video, set to high-energy beats, also features Soubin Shahir appearing alongside Pooja Hegde.

Filming for Coolie reportedly began in July 2024 and wrapped up in March 2025. As per reports, the production covered multiple locations, including Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok. The film is shot by cinematographer Girish Gangadharan and edited by Philomin Raj.

Marketing efforts for Coolie have unfolded gradually, beginning with the surprise release of the first-look poster in March 2024. A teaser dropped in April, confirming the official title of the film. A 59-second glimpse teasing the song 'Chikitu Vibe' was unveiled on Rajinikanth's 74th birthday, December 12, 2024. Additionally, a 27-second video marking the start of the 100-day countdown to the film's release was shared on May 6, 2025.

Monica is the second track to be unveiled, following the earlier release of the Chikitu music video. With just over a month remaining before the film's release, the song is likely to serve as a key promotional element in the weeks ahead. Coolie is slated to hit theaters on August 14 in multiple formats, reportedly including standard, IMAX, D-Box, and 4DX.
