Retro 11 Days Global Box Office Collection: Suriya And Pooja Hegde Starrer Crosses ₹91 Crore Worldwide

Retro Box Office Collection: Retro, Karthik Subbaraj's Tamil romantic action film starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, has seen moderate success at the global box office since its release on May 1, 2025.

As per the latest data from the box office tracking platform What The Fuss, Retro has grossed approximately ₹91.78 crore globally in its first eleven days. The domestic (India) market has contributed around ₹68 crore, while overseas territories have added about $2.80 million (roughly ₹23.78 crore).

Retro: Suriya's Action-Packed Tale of Love and Redemption

The film's storyline follows the journey of Paari, an orphan raised by a gangster in 1960s Tamil Nadu. As the narrative unfolds, Paari seeks to leave behind a life of violence, reconnect with a lost love, and uncover truths about his past tied to a mysterious prophecy and an isolated island. While drawing from genres like romance, action, and mythology, the film maintains a dark, dramatic tone throughout.

Retro was officially announced in March 2024 under the tentative title Suriya 44, and the final title was revealed in December that year. The shoot began in June 2024 and concluded by early October. The film was shot across multiple locations, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai.

The technical team includes composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, and editor Shafique Mohamed Ali. The film has been released in both standard and EPIQ formats.

Produced jointly by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, the film has an ensemble cast, with Suriya leading as Paari. Pooja Hegde plays Dr. Rukmini, while supporting roles are handled by Joju George, Jayaram, Nassar, and others. Special appearances include Shriya Saran and Santhosh Narayanan in song sequences.

The film has maintained moderate audience interest, particularly in Tamil Nadu and select overseas markets. As Retro continues its run, it will be interesting to see how it fares with the ongoing competition in the coming weeks.
