Retro Box Office Collection Day 5: Suriya is one of the most talked about Tamil actors who has given several hits films in his career of around 3 decades. And while it is a treat to watch Suriya perform on the big screen, he is now making headlines for his recent release. We are talking about Retro which is one of the most talked about releases of the year. To note, Retro happens to be Suriya's first release of the year and is a romantic action film. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro also features Pooja Hedge in the lead.

To note, Retro revolves around Paarivel "Paari" Kannan (played by Suriya), who grew up under the care of a gangster after being orphaned, endures treachery and confronts a dangerous cult. His journey is not just about finding his roots but also about living up to a prophecy and seeking a reunion with his estranged beloved, Rukmini (played by Pooja Hegde). The movie weaves a tale of love, betrayal, and the pursuit of one's destiny. To note, Retro happens to be Suriya's first collaboration with Pooja and their fresh chemistry has been grabbing eyeballs with an impressive performance at the box office

After a stupendous performance during the opening weekend, Retro saw a massive dip of over 58% in numbers on day 5. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Retro made a collection of Rs 3.4 crores (Rs 2.95 crores in Tamil & Rs 40 lakhs in Telugu and Rs 5 lakhs in Hindi). This took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 46.55 crores.

Retro Beats Kanguva On Day 5/First Monday

Interestingly, with a total collection of Rs 3.4 crores, Retro has managed to beat the first Monday collection of Suriya's previous release Kanguva which happened to be around Rs 3.15 crores.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has sung praises for Retro and director Karthik Subbaraj can't keep calm about it. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Karthik shared a poster of Rajinikanth's look from Johnny and wrote, "Thalaivar watched #Retro & he Loved it.... Exact words of Thalaivar...... "What an effort by whole team.... Suriya performance Super.... Last 40 minutes of the film Superb... Laughter touch is Fantastic....God bless". Am flying now.....Love you Thalaivaaa".
