Retro Box Office Collection Day 9 Early Updates: Tamil superstar Suriya's latest romantic actioner 'Retro' has been enjoying a fairly stable run at the box office. Due to the lack of big releases in the South, the Suriya starter is likely to maintain its hold at ticket counters on 2nd weekend as well. However, after the smashing opening day, the movie has been witnessing several dips in numbers. In fact, the Suroya starter kickstarted its 2nd week in cinemas with a drop. Looks like, the ongoing India Vs Pakistan war is affecting the box office numbers.
Retro Box Office Collection Day 8 (2nd Thurs)
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro had its highly-anticipated grand theatrical release on the occasion of Labour Day, i.e., May 1, 2025. Starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde in the lead, the film was released in multiple languages, clashing with Nani-Srinidhi Shetty starrer HIT: The Third Case (HIT 3) in the South belt.
Amid high expectations, Suriya's Retro opened to mostly positive reviews from fans and critics alike and netted around Rs 19.25 cr on day 1. Even though the film never really reached the opening day figures, it maintained its decent pace and touched Rs 50.95 cr in its first week on big screens. As per Sacnilk, the movie recorded a slight drop in numbers on its 2nd Thursday (yesterday, May 8) and managed to add Rs 1.75 cr, taking the total earnings to Rs 52.70 cr (approx.).

Suriya's Retro is expected to pick up an upward trend tomorrow and the day after tomorrow since it's a weekend. Meanwhile, according to the real-time Sacnilk updates, the film seems to be struggling at the box office. The Tamil romantic-actioner has apparently earned Rs 1.06 cr today (2nd Fri, May 9) till 9:45 PM IST. As of now, the total estimated net collection is reported to be at Rs 53.83 cr.

Retro Budget & OTT Streaming Updates
As per the Wikipedia page, Retro has been allegedly mounted on a reported budget of Rs 60-65 cr. The post-theatrical OTT streaming rights for Retro have been already acquired by Netflix, as announced in their 2025 content slate for South. That means, the movie will have its OTT premiere on Netflix after its theatrical run. An official announcement for its OTT release date on Netflix is still awaited.
