Retro Gets Censored & Locks A Lengthy Runtime: After a sensational 'Jigarthanda DoubleX,' one of the most sought-after filmmakers of Kollywood, Karthik Subbaraj, collaborated with none other than Suriya for a period action thriller. Titled 'Retro,' the movie aptly belongs to the 70s era and showcases the life of the protagonist Paarivel, his rough and rugged ways with life which he gives up to live a peaceful life full of love with the one. Featuring Pooja Hegde in the female lead's role, the movie is gearing up for a hyped theatrical debut on May 1 worldwide.
The movie Retro was shot over five months and the unit traveled to the filming locations panning Andaman & Nicobar, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai. To keep up with the pan-India release, Retro movie cast a number of notable actors from other film industries as well.
Retro Audio Release
Ahead of the movie's hyped theatrical debut, the makers of the film are going to drop the highly-awaited and exciting theatrical glimpse on April 18, at the audio release event. The event will take place at Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai starting 5 PM.
Suriya's Retro Completes Censor Formalities
As per the recent updates available, Suriya's Retro movie completed the crucial censor formalities and passed out with a decent 'U/A' certificate. The movie's runtime is locked at 168 minutes (2 Hours 48 Mins).
Retro: Production, Cast, & Crew
Suriya plays Paarivel Kannan while Pooja Hegde plays Rukmini Paarivel, his love interest and wife. In addition, Joju George as Paarivel's father, Jayaram, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Singampuli, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Uday Mahesh, Avinash Raghudevan, Tarak Ponnappa, Vidhu, Tamizh, Sandeep Raj, Nandita Das, Remya Suresh, George Maryan, and MD Asif were seen in pivotal roles. Shriya Saran shook her leg with Suriya for a special item song while SaNa was also featured in the song 'Kanimaa' in a cameo. Shreyaas Krishna cranked the camera and Shafique Mohamed Ali worked as the film's editor.
