Retro OTT Rights: Suriya & Pooja Hegde's Period Romantic Action Drama Closes Digital Deal For A Whopping

Retro Seals OTT Deal: After delivering a dud like Kanguva, Suriya got himself busy with Karthik Subbaraj's typical period action drama titled 'Retro.' Also referred to as Suriya 44, the movie is currently under the production phase with the shooting and post-production works happening simultaneously. The title teaser of the movie and the recently dropped release date poster have amplified the expectations for the Retro movie in which Pooja Hegde was seen in a demure avatar. The movie is going to hit the screens worldwide on May 1.

Retro Premise

The movie is about a strong-headed protagonist, a former gangster, who tries to leave the past behind and live peacefully with his wife. However, his past comes haunting to disturb his carefully put together life.

Netflix Bags Retro Movie's OTT Rights

Reportedly, the digital streaming rights of Suriya's Retro movie have been sold and the deal is now final. Buzz has it that the makers received a stunning Rs 80 Crore for the rights of all languages, making it the biggest OTT deal in Suriya's career, especially after a disaster like Kanguva.

Retro Cast & Crew

Retro movie stars Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Nassar, Joju George, Jayaram, Sujith Shankar, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Prem Kumar, Uday Mahesh, Sandeep Raj, Nandita Das, Remya Suresh, George Maryan, and Karunakaran among others in key roles. Shriya Saran shot for a special song in the film.

Santhosh Narayanan is working on the film's music and background score. Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Creations are jointly producing the movie. Shreyaas Krishna is working as the cinematographer and Shafique Mohamed Ali as the editor of the movie Retro.
