Retro Tamil Nadu Advance Bookings: The countdown to one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year has officially begun. Retro, the upcoming romantic action drama starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is all set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2025. In a recent update that has caught the attention of cinephiles across the state, advance bookings for Retro will open across Tamil Nadu on April 27 at 4 PM.

Retro Cast, Crew, and More Details

Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film has generated steady buzz since its announcement under the working title Suriya 44, paired with the subtitle Love, Laughter, War. The official title, Retro, was revealed in December 2024. Since then, the film's music, teaser, and cast lineup have all contributed to growing anticipation ahead of its release.

Production for Retro was carried out by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, with Suriya and Jyotika backing the project as producers. Filming began in June 2024 and was completed by early October. The crew filmed across multiple scenic and diverse locations, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai.

The narrative centers around Paarivel "Paari" Kannan, played by Suriya, and Rukmini "Rukku", portrayed by Pooja Hegde. Baby Aavni appears as the younger version of Rukmini. While plot specifics remain tightly under wraps, early reports suggest the film blends themes of romance and conflict with stylized action and humor.

The supporting cast includes well-known names such as Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Sujith Shankar. The technical crew brings together talents like Santhosh Narayanan for music, Shreyaas Krishna on cinematography, and Shafique Mohamed Ali handling editing.

Adding to the film's commercial appeal are cameo appearances by Shriya Saran in a song sequence titled "Love Detox" and composer Santhosh Narayanan appearing in another track, "Kanimaa."

With advance bookings set to go live statewide on April 27, exhibitors are preparing for high demand, especially given Suriya's strong fan following and Karthik Subbaraj's reputation for stylized storytelling.
