Sarpatta 2 Update: Actor Arya has confirmed that filming for Sarpatta 2, the sequel to the 2021 Tamil sports action drama Sarpatta Parambarai, will commence in August 2025. The update came during a recent press interaction while promoting his upcoming release Devil's Double Next Level. The actor noted that the sequel will go on floors once director Pa. Ranjith completes work on his current project, Vettuvam.

Sarpatta Parambarai, which premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video in July 2021, was set in the 1970s and explored North Chennai's boxing scene, focusing on the rivalry between two clans-Idiyappa Parambarai and Sarpatta Parambarai. The film not only drew attention for its depiction of sports culture but also subtly addressed the socio-political environment of the time.With Arya in the lead role and a strong ensemble cast including Pasupathy, Dushara Vijayan, and Shabeer Kallarakkal, the film garnered critical acclaim for its performances, storytelling, and portrayal of North Chennai's boxing culture.

The sequel, announced in March 2023, has been tentatively titled Sarpatta 2. Ranjith is set to direct the sequel, with Arya returning to play Kabilan.
