As per reports, the girl in the said viral video was not Shruthi Narayanan. In fact, it was apparently a fake/AI generated/deepfake video of the actress. Reacting to the scandal, Narayanan broke her silence and shared her statement on her Instagram story.

Shruthi had shared a lengthy and emotional note on her Ig story that read, "For you guys, spreading all these contents on me it's just a joke and fun content.

But for me and my close ones, this is a very hard situation for us.

Especially for me, it is a very difficult time, and it's a difficult situation to handle. I'm also a girl, and I also have feelings, and my close ones also have feelings, and you guys just make it worse and worse.

I humbly request you all to not spread everything like wildfire. And if you insist on watching such videos, go see them for your mother or sister or girlfriend, because they are also girls and they also have the same bodies like me, so go and enjoy their videos. (sic)"

Later, in another story, Shruthi had stressed upon the negative aspects of deepfake video, stating that sharing deepfake videos is a criminal offence in India. She had also highlighted the criminal provisions and the charges that can be filed against the person who is involved in sharing deepfake videos on the internet.
