Actor Srikanth Questioned In Drug Case After Being Named By Accused Former AIADMK Member: Reports

Srikanth Questioned In Drug Case: Actor Srikanth, known for his roles in Tamil and Telugu cinema, has reportedly been brought in for police questioning in connection with an ongoing drug investigation. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the actor's name surfaced during the interrogation of a former AIADMK functionary arrested in a bar brawl in Chennai's Nungambakkam area.
The individual in question, identified as Prasad, was taken into custody after a fight broke out at a local bar. While being questioned, Prasad allegedly confessed to having procured drugs from abroad and claimed to have supplied substances including cocaine to actor Srikanth. This information was also reported by Asianet News Tamil, which cited police sources stating that Srikanth was summoned discreetly for further investigation.
A special police team reportedly questioned Srikanth on Monday and collected his blood samples for forensic testing. As per News18 Tamil Nadu, authorities are examining whether the actor purchased one gram of cocaine for ₹12,000. As of now, Srikanth has not been officially booked in the case, and the final outcome will depend on the results of the toxicology report.
This development comes amid growing concerns over allegations of drug use and distribution within the Tamil film industry. Asianet News pointed out that drug use at private parties and film success events has been reported sporadically, although not always substantiated with arrests or charges.
Actor Known for Roles Across Tamil and Telugu Films
Srikanth, also credited as Sriram in Telugu films, made his Tamil cinema debut with Roja Kootam in 2002. He went on to appear in several notable films, including April Maadhathil (2002), Manasellam (2003), Parthiban Kanavu (2003), Kana Kandaen (2005), and Nanban (2012). Parthiban Kanavu earned him the Tamil Nadu State Film Special Prize for Best Actor. In recent years, his screen appearances have been limited, with his last known roles being in the Tamil films Dinasari and Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal, as well as the Telugu film Erracheera. He also appeared in the web series Harikatha.
While Srikanth has yet to comment publicly on the matter, police investigations are ongoing. It remains to be seen whether the actor will face formal charges or if his name was implicated without substantial evidence.
