Suriya Vs Karthi Clash This Diwali 2025? A potential box office clash between actor brothers Suriya and Karthi is shaping up for Diwali 2025, if emerging industry reports are anything to go by. According to film trade tracker Cinema Mania, both Suriya 45 and Sardar 2 are currently being positioned for release during the upcoming festive window in late October.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the buzz around this sibling face-off has caught the attention of both fans and industry watchers. Veteran industry analyst Sreedhar Pillai recently shared a list of Tamil films tentatively slated for the Diwali weekend, including Bison (starring Dhruv Vikram), Suriya 45, and Sardar 2. However, he added that these plans remain subject to change until production wraps up and post-theatrical rights are finalized.

Suriya 45 and Sardar 2: Two Star-Driven Tamil Films

Suriya 45, which is still being referred to by its working title, marks a collaboration between actor Suriya and director RJ Balaji, who is co-writing the screenplay with Rathna Kumar. Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film features Trisha Krishnan alongside Suriya, with a supporting cast that includes Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, and Natty Subramaniam. The film began shooting in November 2024 in Pollachi and is currently in production. Music is being scored by Sai Abhyankkar, with cinematography by G. K. Vishnu and editing by R. Kalaivanan.

On the other side of the possible Diwali line-up is Sardar 2, the sequel to the 2022 spy thriller Sardar, directed by P. S. Mithran. Karthi returns in dual roles as agents Chandra Bose and Vijay Prakash. Rajisha Vijayan is also returning to reprise her role in the sequel, with S. J. Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, and Ashika Ranganath joining the cast. The screenplay is developed by Nambi, based on a story co-written by Rathna Kumar, Ashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi. Produced under the banners of Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment, the film's production began in mid-2024 and was last reported to be nearing completion in March 2025, though an official update on its current status is awaited.

Should both films lock in the Diwali release date, it would mark a rare direct box office encounter between the two real-life brothers. Given the fan base and commercial appeal each actor commands, the competition-if it materializes-could make for a closely watched festive season at the Tamil box office.
