According to reports, shooting for Thalapathy 69 began in October 2024 and is expected to wrap up by March 2025. A special military set was recently constructed for key scenes and is reportedly being used for the first-look poster shoot. Fans can anticipate the unveiling of the first poster on January 26, Republic Day, as per industry insiders. The film is reportedly slated for an October 2025 release.

A Remake with a Powerful Message

Reports suggest that Thalapathy 69 is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Bhagavanth Kesari, which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna. Vijay reportedly watched the original film multiple times and was moved by its message of women's empowerment. He is said to have personally requested H. Vinoth to direct the Tamil adaptation, ensuring the theme resonates with his audience.
