Thug Life Advance Booking: With just days left for its theatrical debut, Mani Ratnam's Thug Life has opened its advance booking counters - and early indicators suggest a strong start overseas. The gangster action drama, headlined by Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan, is scheduled for a worldwide release on June 5, 2025, in both standard and IMAX formats.

According to industry tracker AB George, global pre-sales for Thug Life are estimated to be in the ₹8.5 to ₹9 crore range so far. While bookings have picked up momentum in international markets, the film's domestic advance sales are still in early stages, with multiplex chains in India expected to follow suit in the coming days. There are still four days left for release, which may give enough time for the film to build on this initial trend.

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam Reunite for Gangster Drama After 37 Years

Directed by Mani Ratnam and co-written with Kamal Haasan, Thug Life is notable not only for its sprawling cast and production scale but also for reuniting the director-actor duo after nearly four decades, their last collaboration being the 1987 cult movie Nayakan. Thug Life was initially announced in November 2022 under the working title Kamal Haasan 234, marking Haasan's 234th film as a lead actor.

Shot across multiple locations, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry, New Delhi, and parts of North India, Thug Life wrapped production in late 2024. The film brings together an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nasser, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Ali Fazal.

The technical team features some of the industry's most experienced names: cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran, editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, and music composed by A.R. Rahman. Other key contributors include action choreographers Anbariv, production designer Sharmishta Roy, costume designer Eka Lakhani, and VFX supervisor H. Monesh.
