Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 1 Prediction: Kamal Haasan is all over the news these days and rightfully so. After all, he is coming with the much anticipated Thug Life and the fans can't keep calm. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie marks Kamal Haasan's reunion with the ace filmmaker after 38 years. Touted to be a gangster action drama film, Thug Life features Kamal Haasan as Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker along with Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf and Baburaj in the lead. To note, Thug Life happens to be Kamal Haasan's 234th film as a lead.

The trailer has managed to create a massive buzz in the town making Thug Life as one of the biggest releases of the year. Interestingly, Thug Life has been embroiled in a controversy after Kamal Haasan's controversial remark stating, "Your language (Kannada) was born out of Tamil". While the Karnataka High Court had asked Kamal Haasan to apologise, the actor has refused to do so and even revealed that Thug Life will not be releasing in Karnataka as of now. According to a report published in Koimoi, Thug Life is likely to make an opening day collection of Rs 35-38 crores.

Will Thug Life Become Kamal Haasan's Highest Opener?

If the reports turned out to be true, Thug Life is likely to emerge as Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's highest openers respectively. To note, the record is currently held by Vikram (Rs 32.05 crores) and Ponniyin Selvan's (Rs 34 crores) respectively.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Kamal Haasan had revealed that Thug Life is based on his script Amar Hai. "I finished a script and it was called Amar Hai, which was a pun. A man who is believed to be dead is not dead. His name is Amar, and that's the problem. Mani took it as an idea and went on to enhance it," the actor added.
