Thug Life OTT Rights: Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan Film To Stream On This Platform After Theatrical Run

Thug Life OTT Rights: The much-anticipated Tamil action drama Thug Life, headlined by Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, has already been creating waves among fans. Now, with the confirmation of its digital partner, the excitement surrounding the film has only grown stronger. At a recent press meet, it was officially announced that Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Thug Life, adding yet another high-profile title to its library.

The film is a notable collaboration between two legends-Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan-reuniting nearly four decades after their iconic 1987 film Nayakan. Thug Life is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies, and features a power-packed ensemble cast including Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, and Nassar. Bollywood actors Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Sanya Malhotra also play key roles, bringing a pan-Indian appeal to the project.

Principal photography began in January 2024, with filming taking place across locations such as Chennai, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry, New Delhi, and several parts of North India. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman, while cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad.

Thug Life First Single Release

Adding to the buzz, the makers recently announced the release of the film's first single, Jinguchaa, scheduled to drop on April 18, 2025, at 12:34 PM. Touted as a "thugs' wedding anthem," the song promises to be a vibrant and energetic number with choreography by Kruti Mahesh Midya.

The film's audio launch has also been slated for May 16, 2025, at Nehru Stadium in Chennai, hinting at a grand promotional rollout leading up to the movie's theatrical release on June 5, 2025. Reports suggest that Netflix acquired the streaming rights for a staggering ₹149.7 crore, underlining the massive expectations from this ambitious project. However, it is important to note that this figure has not been officially confirmed.

With its theatrical release fast approaching and a global OTT rollout planned, Thug Life is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Indian films of 2025.
