Thug Life Trailer & Audio Launch Date, Time Revealed: A R Rahman To Perform Live At Kamal Haasan's Movie Event

Thug Life Trailer & Audio Launch Date and Time Announced: The makers of Thug Life, the much-anticipated Tamil gangster drama featuring Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, have officially announced key promotional events ahead of the film's theatrical release. The trailer is set to be unveiled on May 17, 2025, at 5 PM, while the audio launch will take place on May 24, 2025, at Sairam College in Chennai. Notably, the audio launch will feature a live performance by composer A. R. Rahman and his team, adding to the build-up for the film's worldwide release on June 5, 2025.
In a joint note shared by the film's production team-which includes Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies-the team acknowledged a recent pause in promotions, stating it was out of respect for the prevailing mood in the country. With a renewed schedule, the campaign for Thug Life now resumes in full swing.
Thug Life brings together Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam nearly four decades after their cult classic Nayakan (1987). The film also boasts an ensemble cast including Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Vaiyapuri.
About Thug Life
The project was first announced in November 2022 under the working title Kamal Haasan 234, marking Haasan's 234th film as a lead actor. The official title, Thug Life, was revealed in late 2023. Principal photography commenced in January 2024, with the film shot extensively across Chennai, Kanchipuram, Pondicherry, New Delhi, and various parts of North India, before wrapping up by the end of 2024.
Technical credits include Ravi K. Chandran as director of photography, A. Sreekar Prasad as editor, and Anbariv in charge of action choreography. The production design is handled by Sharmishta Roy, with costumes by Eka Lakhani and Kamal Haasan's personal styling by Amirtha Ram and Akihito.
As Thug Life heads toward its theatrical release, these upcoming events-especially Rahman's live performance-are expected to set the tone for what is poised to be a high-profile cinematic release.
