Tourist Family Worldwide Box Office Collection: Sasikumar, Simran Starrer Approaches ₹60 Crore Mark

Tourist Family Worldwide Box Office Collection: Tamil film Tourist Family, starring M. Sasikumar and Simran, continues its theatrical run with strong momentum as it nears a significant milestone at the global box office. The comedy-drama, which opened in cinemas on May 1, 2025, has reportedly collected around ₹55 crore worldwide, according to industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai. The film had its premiere on April 29, prior to its wide release across Tamil Nadu and select overseas markets.
The story revolves around a Sri Lankan Tamil family who, following the country's economic turmoil, migrates to Chennai in search of stability. Assuming false identities to avoid detection, the family attempts to start afresh, navigating challenges in a new environment while a parallel investigation begins to close in on them. The film explores themes of displacement, identity, and community through a subdued, grounded narrative.
The film directed by Abishan Jeevinth and produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment also features Mithun Jai Sankar, Kamalesh, Yogi Babu, M.S. Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, and Bagavathi Perumal, among others. It was completed, reportedly, in a brisk single shooting schedule of 35 days, wrapping up in early January this year. Sean Roldan composed the music, while cinematography was handled by Aravind Viswanathan and editing by Barath Vikraman.
Small-Budget Film Makes Big Impact, Poised to Cross ₹60 Crore
The box office performance has exceeded expectations, especially considering the modest scale of production. According to another trade tracker, Laxmi Kanth, the film is not only one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year so far but has also served as a positive example for smaller productions. "Still going strong on weekdays," he noted in a recent social media post, adding that the global gross is poised to cross ₹60 crore soon.
With steady weekday figures and continued support from family audiences, Tourist Family is expected to retain its screen count through the upcoming weekend. Its performance is being closely watched by trade analysts as a potential case study in low-budget films achieving theatrical success. Further box office updates, especially from overseas territories, are awaited.
