Trisha And Kamal Haasan's Age Gap Sparks Online Chatter: Did The Actress Respond? Here's What We Know

Trisha Kamal Age Gap Did She Respond To Buzz

Kamal Haasan-Trisha Krishnan's Age Gap Draws Attention: As the release of Mani Ratnam's Thug Life draws near, an unexpected topic has become the centre of online chatter: the 28-year age gap between its lead pair, Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan. While the film boasts a star-studded ensemble and marks the long-awaited reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after Nayakan (1987), a section of viewers has shifted focus to the onscreen pairing of the veteran actor with his much younger co-star.

The trailer of Thug Life, which recently dropped online, featured romantic moments between Kamal Haasan and Trisha, prompting a wave of social media commentary about their onscreen chemistry and age difference. Trisha, who has been in the industry for over two decades, appears unfazed by the criticism. In several interviews, she has maintained a measured stance, choosing to speak more about the experience of working with the team than directly addressing the age gap debate.

In a conversation with India Today Digital, Trisha reflected on her longstanding professional equation with Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR (Simbu), and Mani Ratnam. "I have known Simbu and Kamal sir for several years now, and it was quite easy for me," she said. "In my film career, Kamal sir has been a mentor. When I entered the set, it felt like a safe space. I've built a comfort level with everyone, even with Mani sir."

The two actors share a professional history. Trisha was cast in Kamal Haasan's now-shelved project Marmayogi, and later acted with him in Manmadhan Ambu and Thoonga Vanam. Meanwhile, Trisha has also worked with Simbu, another lead in the film, in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Alai.

Addressing the reported criticism, some news outlets claimed Trisha responded during a recent promotional event in Mumbai. She is quoted by The Indian Express as saying, "I think that's something I knew when they announced the film, and I had not even signed it. So that's when I knew, wow, this is magic." However, India Today clarified that she did not directly comment on the backlash during the Mumbai press meet.

Trisha Reflects on Her Evolving Creative Bond with Mani Ratnam

In the same interview with India Today, she spoke about her collaborative history with Mani Ratnam. "Doing Ponniyin Selvan after Aayutha Ezhuthu helped me understand Mani sir more. I feel like I grew up with him," she said. "He now knows what and how to extract from me."

Thug Life, which releases on June 5, is a gangster action drama co-written by Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. The film features an ensemble cast including Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Joju George, Nassar, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Ali Fazal, with music supervised by Nakul Abhyankar and Prashanth Venkat. It is jointly produced under the banners of Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies.

While the film's story remains under wraps, the age gap conversation highlights how public perception often runs parallel to cinematic storytelling. Whether or not it impacts audience reception will be known once Thug Life hits the big screens.
