Vaadivaasal Update: In a major development for Tamil cinema, director Vetrimaaran's much-anticipated project Vaadivaasal is reportedly back on track. The film, which has generated excitement since its initial announcement, is set to feature acclaimed actor Suriya in the lead role. Based on the age-old tradition of Jallikattu and adapted from CS Chellappa's 1958 novel of the same name, the film promises to be a grand celebration of Tamil culture, valor, and the deep connection between humans and bulls.

The project first piqued the interest of Tamil cinema enthusiasts when it was revealed that Suriya would take center stage, with the actor preparing for the intense physical demands of the role. In July 2022, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu shared special footage of Suriya training with Jallikattu fighters, showcasing the actor's commitment to authentically portraying the fierce sport. This footage stirred anticipation and further fueled the excitement surrounding the film.

However, director Vetrimaaran had to shift his focus to the production and release of Viduthalai 1 (2023) and Viduthalai 2 (2024), starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori. Despite the delays, Vetrimaaran had previously stated that he would begin work on Vaadivaasal after the completion of the Viduthalai projects and also expressed uncertainty about the sequel to Vada Chennai with Dhanush.

Now, fans can finally rejoice, as VaadiVaasal is officially back in motion. A recent image featuring Suriya, Vetrimaaran, and producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu has been circulating on social media, confirming that the project is set to begin shooting soon. Industry tracker Amutha Bharathi shared the update, signaling that the epic film is one step closer to production.

Vaadivaasal Cast And Crew

The film, produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations, marks the first collaboration between Suriya and Vetrimaaran. With a stellar team on board, reportedly including music by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Velraj, and art direction by Jacki, VaadiVaasal is expected to be a visual and auditory treat.

Set against the backdrop of the traditional sport of Jallikattu, the movie is anticipated to feature Suriya as a brave man deeply intertwined with the practice and is expected to explore the raw, emotional, and cultural significance of the sport in Tamil Nadu. Reports suggest that actors Andrea Jeremiah and Ameer will play pivotal roles in the film.
