Yugi OTT Release: The Tamil murder mystery Yugi, which was initially released in theaters on November 18, 2022, is now gearing up for its digital debut. The film, starring Kathir, Narain, and Natty Natraj, is set to stream on Aha Tamil from June 20, 2025.

Directed by Zac Harriss and written by Packiaraj, Yugi is a bilingual project that was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Malayalam. In the Tamil version, the lead roles are played by Kathir, Narain, and Natty, whereas the Malayalam version, titled Adrishyam, features Narain alongside Joju George and Sharaf U Dheen. Narain appears in both versions, anchoring the narrative across languages.

Yugi: A Mystery Thriller Crafted in Two Languages

The idea for the film began in late 2019, when Zac Harriss and Packiaraj developed a Tamil script and began approaching actors to align schedules. After discussions with Narain, the decision was made to expand the scope of the project and shoot a Malayalam version in parallel, with a separate cast tailored to that audience. Both versions were shot simultaneously, a logistically demanding but increasingly common practice in Indian cinema.

Set against the backdrop of a police investigation, the story unfolds as a detective and his team look into the disappearance of a young woman named Karthika. The narrative, however, quickly takes darker and more complex turns, shedding light on issues of power dynamics and economic vulnerability that frame the mystery.

The Tamil cast also includes Kayal Anandhi, Pavithra Lakshmi, Athmeeya Rajan, Prathap Pothan, Namo Narayan, Munish Kanth, Vinodhini Vaidhyanathan, Prankster Rahul, John Vijay, Zinil Zainuddin, and Anjali Rao in supporting roles.

Behind the scenes, the film features cinematography by Pushparaj Santhosh, music by Ranjin Raj, and a background score by Dawn Vincent. Jomin handled the editing, with production design by Gopi Anand. Action choreography was directed by Phoenix Prabu, and dance sequences were handled by Srikirish.

Yugi will be available on Aha Tamil starting June 20. Those who missed the film during its theatrical run or prefer to revisit the murder mystery can now stream it from the comfort of their homes.
