Con City First Review: Arjun Das' Crime Comedy Gets Positive Early Response Ahead Of Release
Con City First Review: Con City, the upcoming Tamil comedy-crime family drama starring Arjun Das, is set for theatrical release on June 26, 2026. Ahead of its arrival in cinemas, the film has begun drawing attention online after one of its early reactions surfaced on social media following a preview show in Tamil Nadu.

Industry tracker Sugumar Srinivasan shared his first response to the film on X on the evening of June 24, giving Con City a rating of 4 out of 5. In his post, he described the film as a "commercial family drama" with a strong first half and an entertaining second half, while also noting that it revolves around scams, the people who get drawn into them and the way they try to find a way out.
Written and directed by Harish Durairaj, Con City is being positioned as a family drama with crime and comedy elements. According to the film's official synopsis, the story follows a family trying to move away from its troubled past. Their lives take a turn when a young boy named Jeeva is kidnapped, forcing them to revisit the very world they had hoped to leave behind. The incident sets off a mission that becomes central to the film's plot.
What the first review says about Con City
In his social media post, Sugumar Srinivasan pointed to several portions of the film that stood out to him. Among the scenes he highlighted were the EB office sequence, the stretch leading into the interval, the interval block itself, a planning sequence in the second half and what he described as a feel-good climax. He also mentioned references to Chief Minister Vijay and Superstar moments as part of the film's commercial packaging.
On the performance front, the tracker said Arjun Das steps outside his familiar screen image and delivers a different kind of performance in the film. He also singled out the pairing of Yogi Babu and Vadivukkarasi, saying their combination works effectively within the narrative. Sugumar further noted that Anna Ben and Satha make surprise appearances, adding that their presence contributes to the film.
Sugumar's verdict labelled the film a 'winner' and described it as a mainstream entertainer aimed at a wide audience, with particular appeal for viewers who enjoy scam- or heist-based stories.
Apart from Arjun Das, the cast includes Anna Ben, Yogi Babu, Vadivukkarasi, Sakshi Vaidya, VTV Ganesh, Radha Ravi, Aruldoss and several others in supporting roles. The film's music has been composed by Sean Roldan, with Aravind Viswanathan serving as cinematographer and Arul Moses A handling the edit.
Con City has been produced under the banners of Power House Pictures, Maali & Manvi Movie Makers, Klout Studios and Silver Tree Studios. With the film scheduled to open in theatres on June 26, Sugumar Srinivasan's post now stands among the earliest public reactions to emerge ahead of release.
