Dark Early Review: Ajay Karthi's Psychological Horror Thriller Called A Potential 'Dark Horse'
Dark Early Review: Dark, the Tamil psychological horror thriller, is set to arrive in theatres on July 3, 2026. A day before its theatrical release, an early reaction shared by former entertainment journalist Haricharan Pudipeddi on X has attracted attention among movie followers.

In a post shared on July 1, Haricharan Pudipeddi said he had watched Dark and awarded it 3.5 out of 5 stars. According to his post, he found the film to be a genuine attempt at crafting an edge-of-the-seat, no-nonsense psychological horror thriller.
Sharing his impressions, Haricharan wrote that viewers who enjoyed films such as Bhoothakaalam and Black may also appreciate Dark. He added that the film includes several thriller moments and jump scares that keep the narrative engaging until its concluding reveal. The former journalist also described the film as a possible "dark horse" of the week and said it could emerge as a potential box office winner.
In a separate post on X, Haricharan Pudipeddi noted that Dark stands apart from many mainstream Tamil films by not featuring a heroine, romantic subplot, comedy or other conventional commercial elements. He said the film remains committed to its psychological horror genre without relying on what he described as "silly gimmicks" to appeal to a wider audience. He also observed that much of the story unfolds in a single location, which he felt emerges as an important presence within the narrative. These observations reflect Haricharan Pudipeddi's personal opinion shared on social media.
