Dhruva Natchathiram Release Update: Court Order Brings Vikram-Gautham Vasudev Menon Film Closer To Theatres
Dhruva Natchathiram Release Update: The long-pending release of Dhruva Natchathiram, starring Vikram and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, has taken a significant step forward following a recent development in court. The Tamil spy thriller, which has faced multiple delays over the years, moves closer to a theatrical release, subject to certain financial conditions being met.

According to a report by India Today, the Madras High Court has facilitated a framework for the film's release on or before June 15. The order was issued by Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy while addressing the long-standing financial and legal issues that had stalled the project.
The court proceedings involved investors K Punniyamoorthy and K Premkumar, who agreed to the film's release under a structured financial arrangement. As part of this, the court has directed that all revenue generated from the film be routed through a designated escrow account. This account will be opened under the name of Kondaduvom Entertainment, with a legal supervisor appointed to oversee all monetary transactions, including collections and expenses.
In addition, the court has specified that no payments, whether salaries or profit shares, can be disbursed to any partners of the production entity without prior approval. The filmmaker is also required to secure funds from investors to settle pending dues before proceeding with the release. Discussions with theatre owners and distribution stakeholders are expected to follow before an official release date is announced. The court also noted that if the film is not released before June 15 despite efforts, the concerned parties may approach it again seeking an extension.
Dhruva Natchathiram Release: Inside The Film's Long And Troubled Journey
Dhruva Natchathiram has had a prolonged production journey. Initially announced in 2013 with a different lead, the project was later revived with Vikram and went on floors in 2017. Despite being shot across multiple international locations, the film encountered repeated setbacks, including financial constraints and disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shooting was eventually completed in 2023.
The film was earlier slated for release in November 2023, but the plan was called off at the last minute due to unresolved financial issues. A subsequent attempt to release it in early 2024 also did not materialise. Meanwhile, in the wake of the court's recent direction, a May 14 release date has been circulating on social media, though there has been no official confirmation from the makers.
Positioned as a spy action thriller, the film features an ensemble cast including Ritu Varma, R. Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran, and Vinayakan. The film features music by Harris Jayaraj and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. The story revolves around a covert operations team working beyond conventional law enforcement frameworks.
With the court outlining a mechanism for financial oversight, the film appears closer to release than it has been in years. However, pending dues, investor commitments, and distribution discussions remain key factors before the makers issue an official confirmation.
