Hansika Motwani Opens Up Divorce From Sohael Khaturiya For First Time; Says 'It's Better To Get Off...'

Actor Hansika Motwani has spoken openly about ending her marriage with businessman Sohael Khaturiya, confirming that the couple is heading for divorce. Hansika said that she will not explain the reasons in public, despite social media speculation, and added that she feels happy, at peace, and supported by close family members.

Reports earlier revealed that Hansika and Sohael have been living separately since 2 July 2024. The two married in December 2022 at Mundota Fort and Palace in Jaipur. Rumours about trouble in the relationship started last year, after followers noticed that Hansika deleted several photos and videos featuring Sohael from her Instagram account.

During a recent conversation with Hauterrfly, quoted by MidDay, Hansika addressed online gossip around the split. She said, "People wanted clickbait, they got it. They wanted headlines, they got it. I have never clarified it, nor will I, because it doesn't matter to me. It's fine. I have no regrets."

Hansika continued in the same interview, explaining why the decision felt right. "It's better to get off the train if you got onto the wrong train than suffer. I have immense support from my family. I have no regrets. I am very happy where I am," Hansika stated, choosing not to reveal what led to the separation.

Sharing how family guided this phase, Hansika said that her mother and brother encouraged personal comfort over social pressure. She recalled, "Both my mother and my brother were like, 'If you are not comfortable, don't go through it.' And they have seen me in a very dark space—a very dark space. I am a very happy, jolly person."

Hansika added that her low phase worried close relatives. She said, "For me to go into a dark space, it was kind of alarming. So they were like, 'Whatever you decide.' And honestly, till today, no one knows what happened between the two of us, and it's the best. I always say that what happens between two people is known only to them. There is nothing that another person can say or comment about."

According to a report by India Today, Hansika has approached the court for a divorce by mutual consent. The report also mentioned that Hansika has, as per the plea, chosen not to seek any alimony from Sohael. The petition described frequent disagreements over minor issues, which slowly made it hard for the couple to share a home.

Hansika and Sohael’s wedding in December 2022 was a grand celebration in Jaipur, attended by family and friends. By mid-2024, talk of marital strain grew stronger due to their apparent distance online and offline. With the pair staying apart since 2 July 2024, Hansika now stresses privacy, saying the details of the relationship will remain between the two.
