Jana Nayagan First Review: Early Talk Around Vijay’s Film Addresses Comparisons And Remake Rumors
Jana Nayagan First Review: As Jana Nayagan approaches its scheduled theatrical release on January 9, early discussion around the film has begun circulating online, even before any official screenings for the press or public. The latest conversation has been sparked by comments from YouTuber and film commentator Anthanan, popularly known as Valai Pechu Anthanan, who shared feedback he said was based on interactions with people connected to the project.

Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is positioned as a political action thriller and is said to be Vijay's final on-screen appearance before his planned full-time entry into politics. The film's release is currently under close watch, as it is awaiting certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, with the matter listed for hearing today at the Madras High Court.
What Early Feedback Says About Jana Nayagan
In a recent video, Anthanan addressed comparisons being made between the trailer of Jana Nayagan and that of Parasakthi, stating that such parallels were misplaced. According to him, while Parasakthi as a trailer stands on its own merits, drawing direct comparisons with Vijay's film does not accurately reflect what Jana Nayagan offers. He also touched upon speculation suggesting similarities with Bhagavanth Kesari, clarifying that only a small portion of Jana Nayagan bears any resemblance, while the larger narrative takes a different direction altogether.
Anthanan claimed that he had spoken to individuals associated with the film, including members of the technical crew and a few who have reportedly watched the completed version. Based on these interactions, he said the film's runtime, which is said to be close to three hours, does not dilute viewer engagement, with those he spoke to describing the narrative as consistently absorbing throughout.
He further conveyed that Vijay's performance has been spoken of positively by early viewers, with some placing it among the actor's most notable works to date. Anthanan also remarked that the film's technical execution has been described to him as being on a Hollywood-scale.
Addressing the political aspects, Anthanan noted that the film handles its themes cautiously, particularly in the context of Vijay's public political entry. He mentioned reported references to MGR, a sequence involving Vijay singing "Naan Anaiyittaal," and a key dialogue that, according to those who have seen the film, is expected to draw a strong reaction from audiences.
Meanwhile, the film's immediate future depends on today's proceedings at the Madras High Court, which will decide on the delay in certification. The outcome is expected to determine whether Jana Nayagan proceeds with its planned Pongal release or faces further changes to its rollout.
