Kara Box Office Collection Day 3: Dhanush's Film Earns ₹18.35 Cr India Net, Nears ₹30 Cr Worldwide
Kara Box Office Collection: The Tamil heist drama Kara, headlined by Dhanush, has completed its first three days in theatres following its release on April 30, 2026. As the film enters Day 4 (Sunday, May 3), early box office trends suggest a steady, though slightly fluctuating, run over its opening weekend.

Directed by Vignesh Raja and backed by Vels Film International in association with Think Studios, Kara opened with moderate numbers and showed some growth on Day 2 before witnessing a dip on Day 3.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film collected ₹5.20 crore (India net) on Day 3 (Saturday), bringing its total India net collection to ₹18.35 crore. The India gross stands at ₹21.22 crore so far. Overseas, Kara added ₹2.75 crore on its third day, taking its international gross to ₹7.65 crore. This pushes the film's total worldwide gross collection to ₹28.87 crore by the end of Day 3.
The film began its theatrical run with ₹6.20 crore on Day 1 (Thursday), followed by a rise to ₹6.95 crore on Day 2 (Friday). However, Day 3 collections saw a drop compared to the previous day, despite being a Saturday. The overall occupancy on Day 3 was recorded at 25.1% across 3,820 shows nationwide.
In terms of language-wise performance, the Tamil version continues to contribute the majority share. On Day 3, the Tamil version collected ₹4.20 crore with an occupancy of 28%, while the Telugu version added ₹1 crore with a comparatively lower occupancy of 19%.
Kara Cast, Plot, And Crew
Kara features an ensemble cast including Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Sreeja Ravi in key roles.
Set in 1991 in Ramanathapuram, the narrative unfolds over 16 days against the backdrop of the Gulf War. It follows Karasaami, a man compelled to revisit his past while navigating a series of unexpected challenges that impact both his personal life and those around him.
With music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Theni Eswar, and editing by Sreejith Sarang, the film combines a period setting with elements of a heist-driven storyline.
As Kara moves into Day 4, the Sunday collections will be crucial in determining its opening weekend total and setting the tone for its weekday performance. The current trend indicates a stable run, though it remains to be seen whether the film can maintain momentum in the coming days.
