Kara OTT Release Date: The digital release plans for Kara, starring Dhanush in the lead role, have now been officially confirmed. The Tamil action thriller, which arrived in theatres on April 30, 2026, is preparing for its streaming debut less than a month after its theatrical release.

Directed by Vignesh Raja, Kara is set in the early 1990s and revolves around a former thief who is drawn back into the world of crime after his family's ancestral property is taken over by a bank. The film blends elements of action and heist drama while exploring the circumstances that force the protagonist to return to his old ways.

Kara Cast and Crew

The project was jointly backed by Vels Film International and Think Studios. Alongside Dhanush, the cast includes Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan and Sreeja Ravi in key roles.

The screenplay for the film was written by Vignesh Raja along with Alfred Prakash. Music for the film was composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, while cinematography was handled by Theni Eswar and editing was done by Sreejith Sarang. The technical crew also included action choreographer Dinesh Kasi and art director Mayapandi.

Following reports about its post-theatrical streaming plans, Netflix announced on social media that Kara will begin streaming on May 28. The film will be available in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
