Kara OTT Release: Dhanush's latest Tamil heist action thriller Kara is reportedly gearing up for its digital debut following its theatrical release in April. Directed by Vignesh Raja, the film opened in cinemas worldwide on April 30, 2026, and blends crime drama, family conflict, and rural politics against the backdrop of the early 1990s.

The film revolves around a former thief who attempts to leave his criminal past behind and rebuild his life. However, circumstances force him back into the world of crime after a bank seizes his family's ancestral property. The narrative combines elements of revenge, survival, and emotional drama while exploring the struggles faced by rural families dealing with financial pressure and land disputes.

Kara Cast, Crew, and OTT Release Update

Apart from Dhanush in the lead role, Kara features a supporting cast that includes Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, and Sreeja Ravi in important roles. The project was backed by Vels Film International in association with Think Studios.

The technical crew behind the film includes music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Theni Eswar, and editor Sreejith Sarang. The screenplay was written by Vignesh Raja along with Alfred Prakash.

Following its theatrical run, discussions around the film's streaming release have gained attention online. Reports suggest that Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical digital rights to the movie. While the platform has not officially confirmed the premiere date yet, several reports indicate that Kara is expected to begin streaming from May 28, 2026.

If the reported date remains unchanged, viewers who missed the theatrical release may soon be able to watch the film online through Netflix. Kara was produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International, with Kushmitha Ganesh serving as co-producer. The film's action sequences were handled by stunt choreographer Dinesh Kasi, while the sound design was managed by Sachin Sudhakaran and Hariharan M. The project also featured lyrics by several writers including Yuga Bharathi, Uma Devi, Arunraja Kamaraj, Arivu, Karthik Netha, and Dhanush himself.
