Kara Worldwide Box Office Collection Update: The Tamil heist drama Kara, headlined by Dhanush, continued its theatrical run through its first week and is now approaching the Rs 50 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Directed by Vignesh Raja, the film completed seven days in cinemas on Wednesday, May 6, after releasing globally on April 30, 2026.

According to figures shared by box office tracker Jerin Georgekutty on X on May 7, Kara has collected an estimated Rs 47.49 crore worldwide by the end of its first week. The reported total includes around Rs 37.37 crore from domestic markets and approximately Rs 10.12 crore from overseas territories.
Among Indian regions, Tamil Nadu emerged as the film's biggest contributor with Rs 24.87 crore gross. The Telugu states reportedly added Rs 8.25 crore, while Karnataka contributed Rs 3.33 crore. The film also earned around Rs 62 lakh from Kerala and Rs 30 lakh from the rest of India during the seven-day period.
The overseas market has also contributed steadily to the film's overall numbers, with reported earnings crossing $1.06 million during the first week. The tracker further noted that Kara maintained a comparatively stable trend during weekday screenings, though its long-term theatrical performance will remain important in determining its recovery prospects.
As per the shared estimates, the film was reportedly mounted on a budget of around Rs 100 crore, while its worldwide theatrical break-even target has been placed at approximately Rs 50 crore. The reported worldwide share after seven days stands at around Rs 22.75 crore, with theatrical recovery estimated at 45.50 percent.
With its current total, Kara has also entered the list of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2026 so far. The film currently ranks behind titles including Thaai Kizhavi, Parashakthi, Youth, and LIK in the reported yearly Tamil cinema gross chart.
Kara: Plot, Cast, and Crew
Set in Ramanathapuram in 1991, Kara unfolds against the backdrop of the Gulf War period and follows Karasaami, a man drawn back into unresolved chapters of his past over the course of 16 days. The narrative focuses on the consequences of his decisions while attempting to protect the people around him.
Apart from Dhanush, the film features Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, M.S. Baskar, and Sreeja Ravi in key roles. The project has been produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Film International in association with Think Studios.
The film's technical crew includes music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Theni Eswar, and editor Sreejith Sarang. With the movie entering Day 8 on Thursday, May 7, industry attention remains on whether Kara can sustain its box office momentum.
