Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 1 Early Updates: After witnessing a slight setback due to cancelled shows in select regions, Suriya's much-awaited film Karuppu has finally arrived in theatres. Released on May 17 amid tremendous anticipation and soaring expectations, the Tamil action drama has already created significant buzz among moviegoers and fans online.

Directed by RJ Balaji, the action entertainer features an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles.

Ever since the film's announcement, Tamil superstar Suriya's Karuppu had been one of the most talked-about Tamil releases of the year. According to multiple reports doing the rounds online, Karuppu has reportedly been made on a massive budget of nearly Rs 130 cr.

Meanwhile, curiosity surrounding the movie's OTT release continues to grow among fans. While the makers are yet to officially announce the digital streaming partner for Karuppu, speculation about the post-theatrical streaming rights has been circulating online for quite some time.

Early industry reports hinted that Prime Video could secure the digital rights, whereas more recent buzz has linked the film with Netflix.

Karuppu Opening Day Collection Early Estimates (Day 1)

Headlined by Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, Karuppu has begun its box office run on a promising note. Despite facing a few hurdles ahead of release, the much-hyped action drama has already managed to cross the Rs 5 cr mark in gross collections.

As per real-time estimates shared by Sacnilk, the film has earned around Rs 4.36 cr nett in India so far, while its India gross collection is estimated to stand at approximately Rs 5.14 cr till 6:00 PM on Day 1. With evening and night shows still remaining, trade experts expect the numbers to witness further growth by the end of the day.

Karuppu Vs Lal Salaam Box Office

Amid its decent opening at the ticket windows, Suriya's Karuppu has reportedly managed to surpass the opening day numbers of Lal Salaam, which featured Rajinikanth in a special appearance.

According to Sacnilk data, Lal Salaam had collected around Rs 3.55 cr nett and approximately Rs 4.07 cr gross in India on its first day back in 2024.
