Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 1: Karuppu had arrived as one of the most talked-about Tamil releases of 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, the action drama featured Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles, while RJ Balaji also appeared in an important character. The film combined commercial entertainment with emotional storytelling and rural action elements. For the unintiated, Karuppu earned Rs 13.10cr on day 1 for the Tamil version while the Telugu version which was titled as Veerabhadrudu earned Rs 2.4cr

As Karuppu has been witnessing frequent comparisons with Kanguva, it has failed to beat the latter on the opening day. For the uninitiated, Kanguva had earned Rs 14.90cr on day 1 for the Tamil version while the earning was Rs 5.5cr for the Telugu version

As per Sacnilk, Karuppu had managed to sell 39K tickets per hour on BookMyShow for the Tamil version which is said to be record deal for Suriya. This isn't all. The movie had reported sold over 700K tickets and recorded the third highest day 1 ticket sales for a Tamil movie after Leo (756K) and Coolie (715K). In fact, it marks the highest day 1 ticket sales for Suriya.

Meanwhile, talking about Karuppu, director RJ Balaji stated, "I don't want to overpromise and underdeliver. It is a very entertaining, mass masala film with Suriya sir we always love. Ayan, Singam... all the films that we have seen of him... so that is the Suriya sir I wanted to show in this film. The film is made for people of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra...
