Karuppu Box Office Day 3 (Tamil): Suriya's Film Beat Retro Lifetime Collection After Opening Weekend
Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 3 (Tamil): Karuppu is now playing in cinemas across India, giving Suriya the first major theatrical release of 2026. The action drama features Suriya in a double role, marking the 45th lead film for the actor. The project also reunites Suriya with Trisha Krishnan after more than twenty years. The road to screens was uneven, as shows planned on 14 May were cancelled due to financial issues. Fans who had booked or planned early visits were left confused, with questions about the film's status. Screenings restarted after that delay, and regular shows have since continued nationwide.

Dream Warrior Pictures is backing the film, which is directed by RJ Balaji. RJ Balaji also appears on screen, adding to the attention on the film's creative choices and overall presentation. Interestingly, Karuppu has focused on raw action sequences and intense emotional scenes in posters and trailers. These promotions have drawn audiences from many parts of India, especially viewers who closely follow Tamil cinema and Suriya's big releases. Media reports around the earlier delay have also kept the title visible. The cast extends beyond Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, with roles for Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu. The pair's earlier films Mounam Pesiyadhe, Aayutha Ezhuthu and Aaru from the early 2000s still hold loyal fans, and this history, combined with constant coverage, continues to support Karuppu's box-office performance.

On the other hand, Karuppu has been roaring loud at the worldwide box office and has entered the coveted Rs 100cr club during the opening weekend.
