Karuppu Morning Occupancy Day 5: Karuppu has emerged as one of 2026's most discussed Tamil films, blending action, drama and rural flavour. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film brings Suriya and Trisha Krishnan back together after over two decades, and follows a village lawyer who secretly turns vigilante by night. The story centres on Saravanan, played by Suriya, who works as an advocate in simple village courts. Away from daylight hearings, Saravanan becomes a fierce guardian for local people, confronting criminal gangs and political manipulators. The plot tracks rising conflict as this double life puts family members and close friends in danger. The film draws on Tamil folklore and village customs, which many viewers felt gave Karuppu a distinct identity among 2026 releases.

Ayan, Singam... all the films that we have seen of him... so that is the Suriya sir I wanted to show in this film. The film is made for people of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra... It is not made for people on social media. It is made for those who celebrate cinema in the darkness of cinema halls, not for those who do postmortems on social media. Not for them. This is for all of us to celebrate".
