Karuppu New Release Date Confirmed: The release of Suriya's Karuppu has run into major trouble, with the film missing its planned 14 May worldwide opening. Paid premieres and early morning shows were stopped at the last minute, leaving fans confused. Industry sources now link the delay to serious financial disputes in Tamil Nadu that blocked crucial permissions. Karuppu is Suriya's first theatrical release of the year and carries strong expectations. Directed by RJ Balaji, the action drama reunites Suriya with Trisha Krishnan after more than twenty years. The film also features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in important roles.

According to trade chatter, Karuppu's release is stuck due to unpaid dues of about Rs 10 crore in Tamil Nadu. This amount remains unsettled, which reportedly prevented the film from obtaining mandatory clearances. Without these payments being addressed, theatres could not proceed with regular screenings, even after heavy advance booking. The money troubles are said to run deeper, extending to location costs at EVP Studios near Chennai. The production house is reported to owe around Rs 50 crore to different parties. These pending bills have triggered legal and financial barriers, which in turn delayed final distribution approvals and held back Karuppu from reaching cinemas on time.

RJ Balaji Gets Emotional About Karuppu Delay

Sharing an emotional video on social media, Karuppu director RJ Balaji broke down and apologised to his fans. He stated, "I am really hopeful the issues will be resolved by 6 PM this evening. I am manifesting for Karuppu to be released on May 14 and for it to become a blockbuster. I am very hopeful. A lot of people have let go of so many things. Suriya sir has given so much. So, sorry for the delay. Sorry for making you go through all this stress. But it'll all be worth it when the film releases this evening".

Karuppu Gets A New Release Date

However, as per the fresh update, Karuppu aka Veerabhadrudu (in Telugu Version) seems to be having difficulties for release today. Reportedly the evening and night shows have also been cancelled for Karuppu. As per a tweet shared by Jerin Georgekutty, Karuppu is expected to hit the screens tomorrow with makers trying to get the shows at 9 am.

Meanwhile, talking about Karuppu, director RJ Balaji stated, "I don't want to overpromise and underdeliver. It is a very entertaining, mass masala film with Suriya sir we always love. Ayan, Singam... all the films that we have seen of him... so that is the Suriya sir I wanted to show in this film. The film is made for people of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra... It is not made for people on social media. It is made for those who celebrate cinema in the darkness of cinema halls, not for those who do postmortems on social media. Not for them. This is for all of us to celebrate".
