Karuppu OTT Release: Following its theatrical run, Suriya's Tamil fantasy action drama Karuppu is set for its OTT release. The film, directed by actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji, arrived in cinemas worldwide on May 15, 2026, and brought together elements of fantasy, courtroom drama and social commentary.

Backed by Dream Warrior Pictures, Karuppu features Suriya in the lead role alongside Trisha Krishnan and RJ Balaji. The supporting cast includes Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi and Supreeth Reddy. The film was simultaneously released in Telugu under the title Veerabhadrudu.

The story follows Binu, a young girl in urgent need of a liver transplant, and her father Sukumaran, who travel from Kerala to Chennai carrying gold intended to fund her medical treatment. Their plans take an unexpected turn when the valuables are stolen during the journey. What begins as an attempt to recover the lost assets gradually develops into a larger battle against corruption and manipulation within the legal system.

At the centre of the narrative is Saravanan, a mysterious lawyer who takes up the family's case. As he investigates the circumstances surrounding the theft, he finds himself confronting influential individuals who exploit loopholes in the judicial process. The film blends legal drama with fantasy elements, with Saravanan's character linked to the guardian deity Vettai Karuppu.

RJ Balaji directed the project from a screenplay developed with Rathna Kumar, Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T. S. Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer G. K. Vishnu, editor R. Kalaivanan and composer Sai Abhyankkar, who provided the soundtrack and background score.

Viewers who missed the theatrical release will soon be able to watch the film online. Karuppu is scheduled to begin streaming on Prime Video from June 12, 2026. The platform will offer the film in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, while the Telugu-dubbed version, Veerabhadrudu, will also be available on the same date.

The OTT release is expected to bring the film to a wider audience across different language markets. With its mix of fantasy, courtroom proceedings and social themes, Karuppu now joins the growing list of recent Tamil releases making their way to streaming platforms within weeks of their theatrical run.
