Karuppu Release Delay: Makers Of Suriya's Film Issue Legal Notice Amid Show Cancellations And Leak Concerns

Karuppu Makers Issue Legal Notice: Karuppu continued to face release-related disruptions on Thursday, May 14, as the makers shared a public legal notice warning against the circulation of unauthorized footage and pirated content linked to the film. The update came amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the theatrical rollout of the Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer.

Karuppu Release Delay Makers Issue Legal Warning

Production banner Dream Warrior Pictures shared the legal notice on X on Thursday night. The statement, issued by advocate Vijayan Subramanian on behalf of the production house, alleged that certain theatrical screenings of the Tamil version of Karuppu had been exhibited without final authorization from the producers.

According to the notice, the alleged unauthorized screenings reportedly took place in parts of North India following what was described as the illegal activation of KDMs by Qube Cinema Technologies. The statement further claimed that visuals, clips, and scenes from the film had subsequently been recorded and circulated through social media and digital platforms.

The legal notice warned against downloading, sharing, storing, forwarding, uploading, or circulating leaked content from the film through platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, torrent websites, and other digital channels. It also stated that such actions could attract legal consequences under copyright and information technology laws.

The notice additionally cautioned members of the public against engaging with unauthorized copies or leaked material connected to the film. It stated that legal action could be initiated against individuals found circulating or sharing pirated content related to Karuppu.

Karuppu Release Uncertainty Continues

The development comes on a day when the film's release schedule has remained uncertain across several locations. Earlier, morning screenings of Karuppu had been cancelled, with producer S. R. Prabhu citing "unavoidable reasons" in a social media update.

As the day progressed, several online trade pages and tracking accounts also claimed that the evening and late-night screenings scheduled for Thursday had been cancelled. Some posts suggested that the makers were attempting to resume screenings with morning shows on Friday, May 15. However, the production house has not officially confirmed a revised release schedule at the time of writing.

Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features a supporting cast including Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy, Yogi Babu, and Anagha Maya Ravi.

The film's technical crew includes cinematographer G. K. Vishnu, editor R. Kalaivanan, and music composer Sai Abhyankkar.

With audiences continuing to await clarity regarding the theatrical rollout, discussions surrounding the film's release status and the legal notice remained active online throughout Thursday evening.
